Hotel Grand Chancellor set for another big year

Canterbury Conference Expo venue, Hotel Grand Chancellor has several major international conferences confirmed for 2010.

With the largest in-hotel conference centre in the South Island, the level 14 venue is completely dedicated and self-contained with nine different conference rooms and the flexibility to cater for 10 to 1000 delegates with ease.

          

Christchurch wins major international conference

Christchurch has won the bid to host one of the world’s largest veterinary conferences, expected to bring $11.5 million into the local economy.

The win comes after a three-year bidding process and Christchurch beat out the United States to win the tender for the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Conference (WSAVA) in 2013.

          

Rugby World Cup fever kicks off

Christchurch, New Zealand’s home of rugby, will see some great action in the Rugby World Cup 2011 and the city is geared up to host teams and many thousands of fans.

Five pool matches will be hosted in the city, building up to the excitement of the two Christchurch quarterfinals in early October.

A talented young gun has taken the helm of an iconic New Zealand hotel.  Andrew Cleverley took up the role of General Manager of Aoraki Mount Cook's Hermitage Hotel this week following his return from Australia where he was General Manager of Cairns' premier four-star Rydges Plaza Hotel.

The Ashburton District Tourism Development Board has appointed Verity Lydford as the new Event Development Executive for the organisation which Debbie takes parental leave.  Verity started with Ashburton District Tourism in July and brings to the role strong industry experience.
